How to install a ZTE SD-card software package
ZTE publishes software packages that install from a memory card or the phone's storage. Use them to update or to repair a phone that has problems with its software.
Before you start
- Use the package for your exact model and market (the package name shows them, for example …_EEU_… for Eastern Europe).
- Charge above 50% and back up your data. Repairing from recovery can erase the phone.
- You need a microSD card formatted as FAT32, or the phone's internal storage on models without a card slot.
Steps
- Unzip the download on the computer if it contains a folder; inside is a file named update.zip (sometimes with an instructions PDF). Don't unzip update.zip itself.
- Copy update.zip to the top level of the SD card (or the phone's storage).
- On the phone open Settings → System → System updates (or About phone → System update) and choose SD card update / Local update. Confirm and wait.
Phone that won't start
- Turn it off. Hold Volume Up + Power until the recovery menu appears.
- Choose Apply update from SD card (or from phone storage) and select update.zip. Use the volume keys to move and Power to confirm.
- When it finishes, choose Reboot system now.
If something goes wrong
- “Installation aborted” or a signature error: the package is for another model or market.
- The file isn't listed: check that it is named update.zip and sits in the top level of the card.
