Before you download

  • Make sure your device’s model number is one of: Mac14,8, J180dAP. You will find it in Settings → About phone, or on the box.
  • This file is for the Global region. Installing another region’s firmware can remove features or block updates.
  • Apple devices can only restore versions marked “Signed”.
  • Back up your photos, contacts and files first, and charge the battery above 50%.

How to install

Macs with Apple silicon (M1 and newer) and Intel Macs with a T2 chip can be restored from an IPSW using a second Mac and Apple Configurator. This reinstalls the firmware and macOS and erases the Mac.
